Acupuncture was developed in ancient China. Healing practitioners there found they could encourage healing, improve function, and reduce pain by inserting fine needles into very specific locations on the body. More recently, Acupuncture has been used in conjunction with physiotherapy to achieve these very same goals. The physiotherapist’s thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology is combined with acupuncture techniques to achieve effective treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries.
Therapists in British Columbia must be certified in order to perform acupuncture treatments.
